HOW DOES THE STEER ELITE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DIFFERS FROM OTHER PROGRAMS?

First, it is not just about an internship. It is about providing you with a combination of world-class training thanks to our pool of international subject matter experts, and on the job training and mentorship ran by our own senior-level game makers. Our mission is to provide our interns with all the experience, soft skills and technical skills they need to master in order to thrive in the gaming industry. Second, although the Steer Elite Internship Program is extraordinarily intense, you are never left alone. Mentors, Instructors, Program Managers and the entire team is here to guide you and provide you with applicable knowledge, constructive feedbacks, and constant support to make sure you will make the most of your internship journey. Your success is our success!

IS IT PAID?

Yes. You would be joining Steer Studios as an intern and be compensated accordingly. Interns shall expect to get paid a competitive monthly stipend, alongside a health insurance.

WHERE IS IT HAPPENING?

The program is happening in person within our studio located in the King Abdelaziz Financial District in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

The Steer Elite Internship Program runs for 6 months. As an enrolled intern, you are expected to attend weekly in person from Sunday to Thursday, from 9am to 6pm. You shall not be expected to come to the office on weekends nor national holidays.

DO I HAVE A GUARANTEE OF EMPLOYMENT AT THE END OF THE 6-MONTH INTERNSHIP?

We invest time and resources to make sure our interns are eligible for a full-time job within our walls upon successfully completion of their 6-month internship. So, although we do not guarantee employment at the end of the internship, the decision is greatly into your hands: if you deliver what is expected from you, reach the qualifying level of knowledge, behavior and both soft and technical skills, then you are maximizing your chances for a bright future at Steer Studios!

WHICH TRACKS DO YOU TRAIN FOR?

As an intern you will be trained on a specific job and matching skillset. These are called tracks. The tracks that are offered in each program are based on the immediate needs of our studio, ranging from Project Coordination, Concept Art, Game Design, Marketing Art, UI Art, QA/QC Testing, Gameplay Programming, Online Programming, and IT. Refer to the program’s application page for the full list of covered tracks in the upcoming Steer Elite Internship Program cohort.

CAN I APPLY TO SEVERAL TRACKS ON THE SAME COHORT?

No. You should focus all your efforts on the track that fits your talent, qualifications, and skills the most. Those applying to more than 1 track for the same cohort will see all their applications withdrawn.

IF I CAN’T JOIN THE UPCOMING COHORT, CAN I APPLY FOR A FOLLOWING ONE?

Yes. We understand that you might have professional and/or personal obligations that might impede you from attending the upcoming cohort. You are welcome to apply for a future cohort. Scan our social media and company website for future internship opportunities announcements.

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR ADMISSION TO THE STEER ELITE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM?

All applicants must meet the following initial criteria:

  • Pass the admission process.
  • Be a KSA national and/or children of a KSA mother.
  • Speak good English.
  • Be able to attend the internship from our studio located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of internship.
  • Be highly motivated & talented to keep up with the intensity of the training.
  • Be free of any personal and professional obligations.

WHAT IS THE FIRST STEP OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS?

On the first step of our application process, you need to fill out a form and submit your portfolio and resume. Portfolios are designed to help reviewers have a better understanding of your technical skills and attention to details. No matter the track you are applying for, submit all the material you are most proud of. Don’t send only 2 pages, nor 200, use your best judgment. We expect your portfolio to showcase solid fundamentals, and fully finished projects. The deadline to submit your resume & portfolio is Tuesday, April 30th at 11:59pm. You shall hear back from our decision on Thursday, May 9th at the latest.

WHAT IS THE SECOND STEP OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS?

Should you be selected for step 2, you will then take an online skills assessment and asked to send us a 2-minute video cover letter.

The video cover letter is designed to better know you, and measure your culture fit, communication skills, English level, emotional intelligence, and ability to follow instructions. The video should be 2 minutes long ± 15 seconds. After briefly presenting yourself, you shall answer to two questions separately: Why do you want to work in the gaming industry? What can you bring to the gaming industry? As per the setup, you are expected to be facing the camera with a neutral background. Final advice: just be yourself!

For the skills assessment you will be provided very clear guidelines to build a project in adequation with your chosen track, and before a set deadline. This assessment will provide us with tangible data about your level of adaptability, creativity & problem-solving skills, and ability to follow guidelines in a timely manner. Don’t over think it, if you own your craft, this will be like a walk in the park!

The deadline to submit your video cover letter & skills assessment is Tuesday, May 14th at 11:59pm. You shall hear back from our decision on Thursday, May 30th at the latest.

WHEN SHALL I EXPECT THE FINAL DECISION ABOUT MY APPLICATION?

If you are among the lucky ones to be admitted into our Steer Elite Internship Program, you will be informed on Thursday, May 30th at the latest.

DO YOU CONSIDER GPA AND/OR DEGREES AS A SELECTION CRITERIA?

No, we do not consider GPA as a selection criteria. Talent, skills, personality, and portfolio are your keys to get into the Steer Elite Internship Program. Come as you are, as long as you are (very) good at what you do!

THE MINIMUM AGE TO ATTEND THE PROGRAM IS 18 YEARS OLD. IS THERE AN UPPER AGE LIMIT?

No. As long as you are 18 or above on the first day of internship, you are welcome to apply.

I AM NOT A SAUDI NATIONAL, CAN I STILL APPLY?

No. This program is solely for Saudi nationals and/or children of a Saudi mother. You will be required to provide a valid national ID or Saudi passport prior to receiving an official internship offer.

CAN MY INTERNSHIP BE PARTLY/FULLY REMOTE?

No. As an intern you would be required to be attending all 6-month of internship in person, within our studio located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

IF I AM NOT ENROLLED INTO THE PROGRAM, WILL I BE PROVIDED WITH FEEDBACK ON WHAT TO IMPROVE?

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications received, we are unable to offer personalized feedback. However, as a general observation, successful candidates often demonstrate a strong foundation in fundamental skills. We encourage you to focus on honing these basics, which serve as the cornerstone of expertise. With a solid groundwork established, you can then expand your repertoire by acquiring additional skills, tools, and software proficiencies.

I AM NOT LOCAL TO RIYADH. DO YOU PROVIDE RELOCATION ALLOWANCES FOR THOSE ADMITTED INTO THE PROGRAM?

No, as an intern you are not eligible for any relocation package. Yet, you will be receiving free training, high-end on-the-job experience, a health insurance, and a competitive monthly stipend.

IF I HAPPEN TO BE ADMITTED INTO THE PROGRAM BUT CAN’T ATTEND FOR PERSONAL OR PROFESSIONAL REASONS, CAN I POSTPONE MY ENROLLMENT?

Regrettably, if you're unable to participate in the cohort you've been invited to, your spot will be given to another candidate from the waitlist. If you wish to join a different cohort later on, you'll be required to undergo the admission process from step 1, and compete again with all applicants.

ARE MY INFORMATION AND SUBMITTED DOCUMENTS KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?

Absolutely! We keep all applications confidential and do not use them for any other purpose than selecting interns for the Steer Elite Internship Program.

DO YOU HAVE ANY LAST ADVICE BEFORE I SUBMIT MY MATERIAL?

  1. Carefully follow instructions, you will have many other opportunities to be creative!
  2. Don’t be late, any material submitted after set deadlines will be automatically disregarded.
  3. Regularly check your inbox and spam folder, you don’t want to miss a great news!
